Midtown Tower Aims to Bring Retail Party Toward Connector

New renderings for an amenity-laden Midtown apartment tower suggest the project is aiming to add a whole new dimension of street life to the neighborhood. Construction launched a couple of months ago at Modera Midtown, a 29-story tower by developer Mill Creek Residential that will peer down on The Connector and Georgia Tech, next door to the glamour dorms of University House and future, iconic headquarters of tech giant NCR Corp.

This Modera concept isn't exactly climbing into the sky at blazing speed (rumors of a permitting snag persist), but when finished, the planned 12,300 square feet of retail could make an off-Spring Street splash, with a goal of what looks like at least four storefronts with outdoor seating and street-engagement aplenty. At last check, the rest of the tower is ready to offer 435 apartments (including somewhat rare three-bedroom units), multiple car-charging stations and three different amenities levels with grilling decks, a movie lawn, sky lounge and two pools. No timeline has emerged.
