Super-Slick Midcentury Mod has a Touch of Can't-Sell-Itis

New, 18 comments

This impeccably staged and/or furnished midcentury stunner from 1953 looks poised for a magazine shoot, but Atlanta buyers have been balking since August, despite two price adjustments. From the roof to the wiring, this one-story entertainer's delight has been overhauled but not in a way that marred its mod charms. The floor plan is crafty — the listing agent insists its "perfectly crafted" — with the highlight being a killer outdoor living room with a summer kitchen, all linked to the main kitchen via a sliding window. Following a $30,000 price slice in October, the ask is now $969,000. Sure, the Lavista Park area is certainly no stranger to stylish $1 million+ listings, but others tend to be larger, if less refined. This isn't a mod monster; it has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and 2,422 square feet. Which could be the source of its 110 days on the market. That, and the carport-only parking, plus a beautiful and professionally lighted yard that screams for a pool that's not there.
