This $949K Modern Near Beltline Promises Rooftop Soirees

New, 13 comments

This new modern house in Poncey-Highland is expected to be finished early this summer, at which point an eternal party will probably ensue. Listed at $949,900, the 3,600-square-foot sprawler is built to entertain, with open-layout rooms separated by see-through fireplaces, a spacious rooftop deck made of cypress and an optional swanky pool (no word on the upcharge for that). It promises a gourmet kitchen, four bedrooms, four bathrooms and copious amounts of glass. A local architect with an impressive resume, Philip Babb, designed this pad; in addition to residential projects around the world, Babb led the High Museum's construction in the early 1980s and, later, a redesign of the World Trade Center plaza and retail concourse. So let's hope the team can make the location as appealing as the house itself for well-heeled, contemporary-design enthusiasts. While it's near the Beltline and Two Urban Licks, the lot is the endpoint of dead-end Belgrade Avenue, and it's hugged up next to a parking lot. Hard to tell from renderings alone, but the rooftop views just might be marvelous.
