Birmingham has a habit of calling Atlanta a dysfunctional monster of sprawl and crime, but "The Magic City" is clearly jealous of the Beltline project and its ongoing promise of inner-city rejuvenation. "Atlanta is becoming a model for cities, not only across the United States, but around the globe," writes a shocked Birmingham Business Journal, following an appearance by Beltline CEO (and chief evangelist) Paul Morris. B-ham is cultivating some comparatively cute parks of its own, which reminds us the two cities were considered rivals — with similar populations — until the 1950s. [Northside Trail photo: Curbed]
