While many entities both public and private are good at wasting time and money, the gold medal for sheer dysfunction could go to the Community Benefits Plan Committee, formed in response to neighborhood angst surrounding the construction of the new Falcons stadium. At a recent meeting, the AJC reports, just over half of the board members showed up, and with no secretary, no microphones and few people to speak — notably lacking was a promised representative of the Blank foundation, which is set to dole out $40 million in funds to support the neighborhoods — the resulting minutes read like a haiku. Nonetheless, the meeting somehow managed to run overtime, and at some point, it was announced that $1.2 million would be spent on security cameras that may or may not work. [Base image: Molempire]
