History Lessons

The History News Network, a division of George Mason University, has published an in-depth piece on gentrification, racial-erasing and selective history written by Decaturite David Rotenstein. Exploring the distribution and recognition of historic sites in Decatur and their representation of African-American history, it tells of more than 200 housing units recognized as historically significant that have been victims of "progress." A long read, but for those interested in the collision of history and gentrification, it's worth a gander. [Image: Historian4Hire]
