Mayor Kasim Reed dropped a couple of streetcar-related bombshells during a Tuesday meeting, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports. Bombshell one: Instead of $1 fares kicking in today, the streetcar will be absolutely free through 2015, after Hizzoner had something of a fare-collection epiphany during a recent trip to Israel. Bombshell two: The mayor has "tunnel-vision" for extending the streetcar a quarter mile to the Beltline, and he's waiting on a "real estimate" of how much that'll cost before resuming talks with federal funding sources.
