Fixer-Upper Utopia

Realtor.com has crowned Atlanta and its close-in suburbs the fixer-upper capital of America, meaning that homes needing a little TLC are plentiful, relatively attainable and a smart buy in the long run 'round here. The company's economists pored over more than ½ million listings for midsized single-family homes and came away with 7,242 true fixer-uppers to analyze. In Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas and even Chicago, they found that "fixer homes" are "well within reach of the median household, leaving enough financial room for improvements." Necessary components: a fat downpayment and intrepidity. [Image, info Realtor.com]
