Midtown Condo Takes Midcentury Aesthetic to the Sky

New, 2 comments

Mad Men aficionados might find their Shangri La several stories above Midtown Atlanta. Billed as a "midcentury modern dream in the heart of Atlanta," this three-bedroom condo spans two levels and more than 1,700 square feet at Colony House. Noted architects Jova/Daniels/Busby designed the building in 1972 as part of Colony Square, the Southeast's first urban mixed-use development, so the throwback vibe is apropos. (These furnishings would be way out-of-whack at many other Midtown towers). Even the views — via floor-to-ceiling windows — look pretty much midcentury, with the exception of that one glassy tower. The two and ½ bathrooms have been renovated, and the updated kitchen has Poggenpohl cabinetry and top-flight appliances. So the $375,000 price tag might seem extraordinarily low, on the surface. But the monthly HOA fees, according to one listing service, are north of $1,000. And while the building has a concierge and great retail and park access, it doesn't appear to offer a pool or many other communal amenities.
