A MARTA station mixed-use proposal and Tyler Perry's controversial movie studio plans have thrust the Southwest Atlanta neighborhood of Oakland City into the news lately, but the most positive story of all might be decidedly more green — and fun. Next door to Fort McPherson, Park Pride and the City of Atlanta are teaming for a $2.5-million facelift of Reverend James Orange Park. Park Pride reports that the "celebrated addition to the neighborhood" will feature a new playground, splash pad, outdoor pool and bathhouse by this summer. [Photos courtesy Park Pride.]
