Tucked deep in the woods in the heart of Buckhead, with Ga. Highway 400 towering far above, Mountain Way is a surreal place. At the confluence of highway infrastructure, nature and old homes, this large swath of land is bisected by a creek. For years, the only way to reach the area was by wending through the neighborhoods north of Peachtree Road, but that's all set to change with the arrival of PATH400. So, with the promise of visitors to this secluded oasis, not far from the chaos of central Buckhead, work has begun on a new park called Mountain Way Common. A groundbreaking ceremony was held yesterday, in fact. After the jump, have a gander at the plans and a few images of the area during a preliminary beautifying effort last spring.
