MARTA is in the early stages of procuring new rail cars to replace some of the original dinosaurs still operating on the system, reports the AJC. Preliminary plans call for cars that have more storage spaces for luggage and bicycles, but through the process MARTA plans to seek rider input on configuration and color schemes. New cars will allow for the retirement of the oldest cars in the fleet, some dating back to 1979 — having admirably served well past their expected life of 25 years. Now, what color shall we paint these newbies? [Info: AJC; subscriber; photo: Wikimedia]
