Instead of bitching about train frequency and occasionally lewd patrons, maybe MARTA riders should start appreciating the bountiful public art that surrounds them. That's (basically) the point of a column at the Saporta Report this week, which analyzes the intent and history of art installations at three first-generation MARTA stations: Avondale, Decatur and Edgewood/Candler Park. The writer advises: "Next time you are riding MARTA, take a minute and look around and find some of the art and thoughtful architecture that is hidden in plain sight."
