The ongoing contract dispute between the city and Atlanta Public Schools has made it disconcertingly difficult for the Atlanta Beltline project to move forward, the AJC reports (paywall alert). The newspaper quotes Beltline CEO Paul Morris shedding light on how dire the situation is: "(The dispute) has made it virtually, physically and legally impossible for us to get loans, to sell bonds, to interact with investors and go to our banks with opportunities," Morris said at a recent budget meeting. Some players (including Mayor Kasim Reed) seem confident that a compromise can be reached before the matter spins into litigation, which would effectively "halt the Beltline in its tracks," the newspaper found.
