As part of a project 10 years in the making, multiple local restaurants are bound for a collection of buildings at a beleaguered intersection in East Lake, officials announced today. The owners of Fellini's Pizza and La Fonda Latina have purchased land at the four corners where Hosea Williams Drive crosses Second Avenue, and construction will begin this summer to convert an old gas station into a fast-casual concept called The Greater Good BBQ, while on the southwest corner, they're planning two more restaurants with outdoor seating and a third smaller eatery. The East Lake Foundation and CF Foundation have controlled the land since 2005 in hopes a "holistic revitalization" would come; earlier efforts to redevelop were squashed by the Recession. And so Downtown East Lake was born. [Image: Google Maps]
