Development Du Jour

In what could be a good sign for the aesthetes of Atlanta, a company helmed by legendary architect John Portman will develop the next phase of Technology Square in Midtown, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports. Georgia Tech officials recently green-lighted Portman Holdings to build a $300 million mixed-use project and computing center at Spring and 4th streets, with a projected opening in 2018. While the article doesn't specify if Portman and Co. will actually design the project, it does source one Tech official who believes, "This expansion is one of the most exciting developments since the opening of Technology Square more than a decade ago."
