MARTA Matters

New, 6 comments

It's not every day that another city looks to MARTA with longing eyes, but thanks to the Seattle Times, we can bask in the glories of envy for a moment. Back in the 1970s, when Atlantans were envisioning a robust, modern transit network, apparently so too was Seattle; but when voters rejected the system in a landslide, federal funds were diverted to us. But don't get too haughty — while the article does acknowledge some of the benefits of MARTA, it also points out that the system "didn't prevent metropolitan Atlanta from choking itself with sprawl."
