As Boston wends its way through the bidding process for the 2024 Olympic Games, former mayor and all-around awesome Atlantan Andrew Young, Jr. penned an op-ed about how things are just peachy in Georgia, following our go of things in 1996. While our games might not have been the best ever — Samaranch's a jerk — we do have them to thank for Centennial Olympic Park, which Young notes has been key in the transformation of downtown into a cultural center in the last two decades. Young isn't the first former mayor to address Boston's bid, with Shirley Franklin throwing back some not-so-subtle shade in response to jabs by Bostonians last year.
