Despite Price & Va-Hi's Popularity, Condo Lingers Lonely

New, 16 comments

For 443 days — almost 62 weeks — Unit 2 of the historic St. Charles condo building in the Highlands has been on the market, beckoning recent college grads or divorcees looking to rekindle their wild days. Listed a few weeks after the Russian Olympics for just $160,000, more than $20,000 under what it had sold for a decade ago, the one-bedroom, one-bathroom unit can't seem to catch a break. And since then, the neighborhood has only gotten better, with the Beltline a quick walk away and restaurants and stores popping up along Highland Avenue. At 712 square feet, the home is a generous one bedroom, with separate living area and kitchen and a not unreasonably sized bathroom. It features hardwood floors, granite countertops and even in-unit washer and dryer, begging the question: Why can't it sell? Especially when its price, reduced by $3,000 back in August, is going the opposite way of rents. And yes, there is a dedicated parking space.
