Agent: Midcentury 'Masterpiece' is 'Unbelievably Magical'

New, 7 comments

For better or worse, this midcentury ranch in Lenox Park appears to have retained much of what made it cool in 1952, while adding just enough modern-day flourishes to appease discerning buyers of today. The listing agent, however, is convinced the place is solid gold, tossing out hyperbolic phrases like "unbelievably magical" (in reference to the protected, private lot with a three-waterfall pond), "a home unlike any other in Morningside" (questionable) and "straight out of Madmen" (accurate). Priced at $695,000, this three-bedroom hipster resides in that lovely, sylvan part of town that's tucked off Cheshire Bridge Road. The highlight is probably the 33-foot-long living room with an expansive wall of windows that captures the magical verdure beyond. The kitchen, while expansive, exudes a science-laboratory vibe, and fans of black toilets and strange coppery sinks will find Zen in one bathroom. But such matters are probably minor for buyers seeking authentic midcentury style — and a little urban peace and quiet.
