Modern 'Masterpiece' Nearly Doubles Price in Two Years

New, 9 comments

This angular contemporary just northwest of Atlantic Station last sold in 2013 for $615,000 but now asks $1.2 million. Careful comparison of the current photos with the previous listing and 2012 Curbed Atlanta coverage shows that some improvements have indeed occurred — a new front gate, fresh color schemes in some areas, a snazzier treatment on the underside of the stairs — but nothing that seems to warrant, based on the photos, a price increase of that magnitude. The three-bedroom, four-bathroom's listing drops names like Kanye drops the mic: Pedini cabinetry, Thermador and Gaggenau appliances (never mind that both brands are misspelled in the listing), bathroom marble imported from Greece. The home has been featured in the Modern Atlanta Home Tour, which is worth something. With a heated saltwater pool, surround-sound wired throughout the home and 3,728 square feet of open plan space, does this unique "modern masterpiece" earn its higher asking price?
