Much has been written lately about the cost of renting in Atlanta's sparkly new developments, but what about the rates at a charming old house? Let's have a gander at this circa-1930 Craftsman in Poncey-Highland that abuts Freedom Park, a rental that's touted on Craigslist as having "the most central location of any 2BR/2BA you will find in ATL!" This upstairs, two-bedroom unit is exceptional in that it comes furnished — although the "tastefully decorated" claim is suspect on the porches — and includes easy-breezy walkability to the Beltline and Ponce City Market. With 1,737 square feet, it's hardly a small space, but it's worth noting that a monthly rent of $3,795 (utilities included) would tackle one helluva mortgage. It offers some lovely historic features (the ancient-looking butler's pantry, the molding) and the ability to wash your skivvies while cooking on the white electric stove. Atlanta's rental market has become crazy competitive, and not everyone wants a ball-and-chain mortgage, but how many folks are willing to spring for a deal like this?
