Drawing inspiration from its metropolitan cousin down the road, Athens is embracing a new crop of contemporary residential design, and they're fixing to prove it during the Classic City's inaugural Modern Homes Tour on Sept. 12. The seven houses on the tour "represent the best of Athens' new modern architecture built and designed by award-winning architects and builders," officials tell Curbed. Tickets are $20 beforehand, and proceeds will benefit a noble cause: the local AIDS service organization, AIDS Athens. All pertinent details are right here. After the jump, have a sneak peek at how Athens is doing modern these days. · Athens Modern Homes Tour [Site]
