Atlanta's Favorite Street Fest to Bring Back Big Dipper

New, 4 comments

Atlanta's favorite street-closure, anti-vehicle blowout is set to return next month to a Big Dipper-shaped route where record crowds showed up last September. For four hours on the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 27, a 4.5-mile Atlanta Streets Alive loop (and ladle) incorporating Highland and North avenues and Boulevard will be closed to motorized traffic for the enjoyment of walkers, bikers, runners, dogs, jugglers, break-dancers and whomever else. Last September, this route saw an estimated 106,000 people turn out, the largest attendance in the event's five-year history. Streets Alive will bring back another popular route — the Peachtree Street party in downtown and Midtown — on Oct. 25.
