Rumblings in the architecture and preservation world of Atlanta indicate that the historic H.M. Patterson & Son funeral home at Spring and 10th streets in Midtown could be for sale. Known as the Spring Hill Chapel, the building opened in 1928 and occupies a prime spot in the heart of the booming neighborhood, next door to where development recently claimed Checkers for a new apartment building. Could the historic funeral home — designed by famed Atlanta architect Philip Trammell Shutze — meet the same fate? It's too early to say, but sources in the know say changes are definitely afoot.
