Ousted Comedy Club May be Moving to Buckhead

New, 3 comments

Faced with Sandy Springs' apartment-building bonanza along Roswell Road, community businesses that have been around for years are finding themselves pushed from their homes. The Punchline Comedy Club — where performers like Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle and Jerry Seinfeld have taken the stage — recently closed after 33 years, with minority owner Chris DiPetta telling the AJC that the upheaval in the area is partially to blame. Now, the AJC is reporting that a deal could be in the works to bring the Punchline to the Side Bar at the Landmark Diner on Roswell Road in north Buckhead, though the deal could take at least 18 months. With limited prospects for a permanent space in the near future, those looking for a laugh can find the Punchline at pop-up locations around the city.
