Atlanta's Population Set to Soar to 8 Million by 2040

Metro Atlanta's population is growing, and there is nothing you can do about it. A report by the Atlanta Regional Commission predicts the 20-county metro's population will surpass the eight-million mark within 25 years, signalling a boost from earlier estimates. As the Atlanta Business Chronicle observes, experts believe that much of the growth — and swelling employment base — will take place in the core of the city, driven by transit and walkability, though suburbs will boom, too. One observer offered these encouraging words: "We have weathered the recession and are now growing almost as quickly as before ... The region seems to have a solid economic footing for the future."
