Usually transit-oriented developments are constructed along transit corridors, but thanks to a grant from the Federal Government, MARTA and the Beltline will have a chance to explore the potential of development on future transit lines around the city. According to the AJC, the grants will pay for administrative costs and development studies that could bring dense development to proposed transit corridors. MARTA's $1.6 million portion of the money will go toward planning initiatives for the extension of the Blue Line south and east of Indian Creek Station, even though there's no source for the $2.5 billion needed for that project yet. Then again, every project has to start somewhere...
