Next to Coca-Cola's headquarters and just south of Georgia Tech, a former rail-car building that dates to 1911 is set for a dramatic transformation. A $3.5-million venture called The Gathering Spot — billed as a modern, private business and social club — expects to debut for members by the end of this year. Officials have tapped design firm Gensler to create a concept with workspaces, an event space and a full-service restaurant and bar. The 22,500-square-foot former railroad station is part of the Northyards development. And it's a safe bet the rail engineers of yore never envisioned suspend-egg swings within these walls.
