Changes are coming on North Avenue at the Beltline, across the street from Ponce City Market. Demolition permits have been issued for "Commercial Buildings" and "(4) Industrial Buildings" on the property of the storied music venue the Masquerade. While previously released drawings indicate the historic mill building will be spared and apartments will fill the rest of the site, details are scarce on what is actually being demolished. And with only a few buildings on the site to begin with, it's hard to say what four structures could be razed without touching the historic mill. One thing is for sure — time is ticking for the grungy music venue as the unrelenting tide of mixed-use mania sweeps along the Beltline. We've submitted inquires to the permit filer and Masquerade officials and will post any additional information if it comes.
