Atlanta's most memorably/curiously/hilariously/awesomely/strangely named new apartment community is nearing completion, and it bears little resemblance to the moribund office stack it used to be. Standing 20 stories over The Connector and Piedmont Avenue, The Office Apartments are beckoning Atlantans to "live above downtown" and enjoy amenities like biometric workouts, direct MARTA connectivity by way of elevated tunnels and — get this — in-house recording studios. Paces Properties, the developers behind Krog Street Market, scooped up this 1975 office tower for a song last year and launched a fairly dramatic transformation in partnership with DeBartolo Development. According to the project's website, The Office will have 327 one-and-two-bedroom units that should begin leasing any day now (no word yet on rates). Paces is billing it as downtown's first new luxury rental project in about a half-century.
