For $647K, Kirkwood New-Build Goes the Classic Route

New, 37 comments

The paint might still be drying on this big blue new-build in Kirkwood, but it manages to exude Old South elegance without feeling ostentatious or stuffy. Note the leaded windows, classic farm sink, rustic shiplap walls and vintage-style light fixtures and cabinet hardware around these 3,016 square feet. More modern perks include the leathered black granite and honed marble countertops, two-car garage with a "bonus space" up top and the commercial range from Italy. With four bedrooms and three bathrooms, this Craftsman-style offering will set buyers back $647,500. (According to Zillow, it was listed for $22,000 cheaper in October and pulled off the market after a couple of weeks.) Elsewhere, the granite fireplace on the big breezy patio — an "outdoor paradise," per the listing agent — is a nice touch, though such an exposed TV above it could be savory bait for kleptomaniacs. Questionable aspects include the shoddily fenced backyard and a microwave randomly in the butler's pantry. But, collectively speaking, maybe those are minor quibbles.
