Hearing talk of a low-ish $200,000s condo on Peachtree Street in the cosmopolitan heart of Midtown typically conjures an image of a shoebox. But that's not the case with this wide-open unit at 805 Peachtree, a Bauhaus/South Beach-inspired complex originally built to house government offices in 1951 and converted to boutique condos and retail in the late 1990s. For a relatively scant $232,500, a buyer gets almost 1,200 square feet and 10-foot ceilings but very few walls. The single "bedroom" is large enough for a king-sized crash pad and office, and pretty hardwoods run throughout. Bold paint choices abound, but that could be easily remedied for buyers who don't think they liven up the otherwise industrial vibe. The sticking point — and you know there has to be one — is the $539 monthly HOA fees. But that buys the services of a concierge, an on-site storage unit and access to a spiffy amenities level and pool with terrific city views. And it's the rare Atlanta pool that's both heated and cooled.
