The vast surface parking lot asphalt wasteland at West Peachtree and Eighth streets in Midtown is a distant memory, and its mixed-use replacement is coming down the homestretch toward completion. The Wood Partners project formerly known as 33 Peachtree Place is now called Alta Midtown, and its leaders have launched a (bare bones) website to accept reservations from prospective renters. This puzzle of low, medium and high-rise uses gobbled a roughly four-acre parking lot directly across the street from the Midtown MARTA Station. At last count, plans called for about 20,000 square feet of retail and 369 apartments. Estimated completion is this fall or winter. After the jump, have a gander at Alta Midtown renderings and photos of what used to be.
