Atlanta Streets Alive Plans Giant New Route, 4 Events in '16

New, 18 comments

Atlanta Streets Alive is shaking things up for 2016. The anti-vehicle street party, which drew a combined 179,000 Atlantans to three events last year, will debut a new route April 17 that stretches from Westview, past the Beltline's Westside Trail and all the way to Grant Park. This expansion of ASA's Historic West End route will connect seven neighborhoods — Westview, West End, Adair Park, Pittsburgh, Mechanicsville, Summerhill and Grant Park — via closures of Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard and Georgia Avenue. What's more, ASA is beefing up its lineup for 2016, offering four events that include: the signature Peachtree Street route on June 12 (a Sunday evening street party that coincides with the Atlanta Cycling Festival); the Highland Avenue-Boulevard route on Sept. 25; and a grand-finale return to Peachtree Street on Oct. 23. Take that, cars.
