First look: Modera Morningside’s sleek second phase

Construction launches on 21 “condo-style” apartments on Piedmont Avenue

The latest Modera product to hit metro Atlanta (there are many) will be an addition to the original — Modera Morningside on Piedmont Avenue.

Mill Creek Residential announced in a press release today that construction has launched on a second phase that’ll include 21 “condo-style residential apartment homes” and 4,700 square feet of retail to front Piedmont. Phase I brought 300 apartments to the fringes of tony Morningside plus retail anchored by Sprouts Farmers Market.

Other Modera incarnations are popping up like multifamily mushrooms from Cobb County and Sandy Springs to Midtown and Buckhead.

Notably, each Phase II apartment in Morningside will have 12-foot ceilings (that’s unusual) and either a big private balcony (up to 965 square feet) or rooftop terraces (up to 1,700 square feet).

Officials boldly promised the private outdoor amenity spaces of Phase II “will separate it from virtually every community in the surrounding area,” according to the release.

Elsewhere, a pedestrian bridge will be constructed to allow Phase II residents access to existing retail and residential amenities. These include three courtyards and a rooftop resort-style pool with outdoor cabanas.

All told, Mill Creek has developed, begun development, and acquired more than 1,700 homes in the Atlanta area, officials said.
