The influx of apartments near Piedmont Park shows no signs of slowing as the calendar flips to 2017.

According to Bisnow, developer Lennar has filed for permits to start construction on a new apartment tower on 13th Street, just west of Piedmont Park.

Plans call for 307 apartments in a 20-story tower, atop a seven-story parking podium; in total, the building would encompass more than a half-million square feet.

Proposed back in April, the tower would replace three two-story residential buildings.

The project is the next in a series of apartment ventures replacing one of the last vestiges of low-density residential homes in Midtown, located west of Piedmont Avenue.

In the last year, surrounding blocks have been filled with Yoo On the Park, Alta on the Park, and Azure on the Park (seeing a theme?). Smaller-scale projects are proposed to fill in less sizable parcels, with plans in place for a four-story condo building at 208 12th St. and an eight-story condo building at 238 14th St.

Look for construction to begin on the unnamed project — though you can bet it’ll be something “on the Park” — early in the new year.
