Design Within Reach will Anchor Howell Mill Retail Overhaul

New, 19 comments

The evolution of Howell Mill Road continues at the corner once occupied by Figo Pasta, where the Southeast's largest Design Within Reach retailer will soon rise in modernistic fashion reflective of the brand. Westside Provisions officials released a glimpse of the 16,000-square-foot retail expansion under construction on the same block as Bacchanalia and Taqueria del Sol, where the corner building housing Figo has been wiped out. (Figo has since moved to 907 Marietta St.) Design Within Reach will relocate from its longtime Buckhead location and showcase the "robust selection of authentic modern furniture, lighting and accessories from designers past and present" the company is known for.

Design Within Reach will be the building's first tenant when the project opens in spring 2017, officials said. Other retail slots remain available, but the furniture showroom will claim all but 2,800 square feet.

The Westside Provisions project continues a partnership between Design Within Reach and New York-based architecture firm D Form A (DFA), and it sounds like the building's form will also have function. Officials described it as follows:

"Complementing the iconic modern designs for which Design Within Reach is known, the new space will feature beautiful quartz zinc panels and dove grey stucco, providing ample natural light throughout. This contemporary design effectively creates a space that speaks to the nature of Westside Provisions, as well as the quintessential Design Within Reach customer."
