The Maddox House, a Buckhead mansion designed by Philip Trammell Shutze, will be torn down this week. Despite what seemed to be a last minute change of heart by the new owner — who shelled out $2.2 million for the historic home in Tuxedo Park — Maria Saporta reports that the house will fall on Wednesday. While the loss of the house is lamentable, the big takeaway from this episode is that it's symptomatic of a larger issue in Atlanta: the lack of preservation laws.
