Rendering: Memorial Drive's Latest Addition, The George

Expect apartments, stores, a restaurant, and fancy-pants bottle shop

A rendering by Urban Realty Partners gives an indication what the next installment of Memorial Drive's ongoing renaissance will look like. Continuing the trend of naming mixed-use pieces after older, proper men, The George will join his colleague The Leonard on the booming corridor in Grant Park, a stone's throw from downtown and Georgia State University.

This site was the longtime home of Azar's Liquor Store until last year. As What Now Atlanta notes, the six-story apartment complex is planned to include a 4,500-square-foot bottle shop, which ostensibly will have less window bars than its predecessor. Also expect three storefronts, to include a more than 4,000-square-foot restaurant space. And 130 apartments.

Urban Realty Partners is touting the project's five-minute-walk proximity to the King Memorial MARTA station, and they're promising the building will be exceptionally energy-efficent to lower bills. The developer's Memorial Drive roster also includes the Oakland Park condos farther east and the aforementioned Leonard.
