Three suburban-style stores along Peachtree Road in far south Buckhead could soon be replaced by a seven-story building. According to Bisnow, developer Cornerstone is hoping to secure demolition permits for properties at 1875, 1891, 1895, and 1901 Peachtree Road.
Doomed stores include Chick-fil-A, Peachtree Cleaners, the Peachtree Package store, and a long-shuttered Harry's in a Hurry. All told, the parcels total more than three acres, providing plenty of space for Cornerstone to finally realize their 188,000-square-foot mixed-use medical development.
Plans to transform this site have been floating around (in various incarnations) for more than two years.
Located just down the street from Piedmont Hospital, the project could include two levels of medical offices, street-level retail spaces for the displaced Chick-fil-A and Peachtree Cleaners, and five floors of senior housing. If the permit process moves quickly, expect to see construction begin soon.
The announcement comes on the heals of Piedmont Hospital's Coronary Care Unit, planned to replace a mid-century office building just down the street from Cornerstone's proposal.
