Study Supports Notion that Atlanta Rent Isn't Affordable

New, 16 comments

Number of high-end rentals in 2015 increased by 867 percent

For those who argue there's nothing affordable for renters in Atlanta anymore, here's a little ammunition for the next verbal skirmish: Real estate blog Rent Cafe has provided data indicating that out of the 29 large rental projects completed last year in metro Atlanta, 91 percent were high-end rentals.

That lands Atlanta at the top of the blog's list of mature metro areas with the highest percentage of luxury apartments built and delivered in 2015. In addition, the number of high-end rental properties in metro Atlanta increased by 867 percent between 2012 and 2015.

At the national level, 75 percent of all large multifamily rental developments finished in 2015 were high-end rentals.
