Hotel Planned for Vacant Lot next to Fox

High-rise hotel could continue trend of Midtown development toward downtown

A longstanding and underwhelming parking lot across Ponce de Leon Avenue from the Fox Theatre may soon be home to an 18-story hotel.

Last night at the Midtown Development Review Committee meeting, a proposal was floated to bring a 238-room hotel atop a parking deck to the Peachtree Street site, according to a meeting agenda. Architects for the project are Atlanta-based tvsdesign. The proposed building would rise kitty-corner from the stalled Emory Proton Therapy Center and just down the street from JPX Works' planned apartment building.

Also announced at the meeting were plans for a 10-story medical office building to rise between Spring and West Peachtree streets. While the project at 1117 Spring Street has been in the works for more than two years, the revised plans move the tower to the opposite site of the site, abutting West Peachtree, and add retail and restaurant space at the street.

No timeline was available for the projects.
