$1.2M Midcentury Sprawler in Buckhead Bags a Buyer

New, 9 comments

Few signs of 1954 remain in this dazzling renovation

The bones of this sprawling, light-filled, and airy midcentury-modern house off West Paces Ferry Road date to 1954, but it looks pretty cutting-edge in almost every other respect.

It listed at $1.2 million in late March and is unsurprisingly under contract.

Begin with the superb outdoor lounge that is the (heated) pool area, with its bank of built-in bench seating, fire pit, and ample patio space for a freakin' basketball game. Then swing on through the wet bar, which has one groovy "river sink," and on to the kitchen, with its custom cabinetry, six-burner Viking range, "blue eyes" granite, and high ceilings with exposed beams.

Among these 3,980 square feet there's no shortage of openness, natural light, and bars (the spare bar has an ice-maker and fridge).

Some might quibble with the fact that this much space offers a mere four bedrooms, or that the basement "playroom" has a dated dropped ceiling. But not just every house has a basement devoted to leisure, with this much swagger above.
