Decatur Home Looks '80s Outside, Modern Inside

New, 6 comments

Three-bedroom, three-bathroom, three-floor house has surprisingly sleek style

Some Atlanta house-hunters make the basic mistake of judging a book by its cover. It's human nature.

Take for instance this home, which was built when folks sported Members Only jackets, listened to Def Leppard, and watched the A-Team — without irony. But step inside, and it's got all the clean lines and angles one expects from a freshly decorated, modern home.

Located in the City of Decatur, this three-story, three-bedroom, three-bathroom property has 2,122 square feet of living space, including towering ceilings and open staircases throughout.

The den features a gas fireplace with one of those rolling library ladders, which seems a bit unnecessary but will make bibliophiles drool. Other features include reclaimed light fixtures, "chef-inspired" kitchen with a large island featuring waterfall granite, marble backsplash, and stainless steel. Also, a decent-looking backyard with hardwoods.

Once outside, however, looking at the exterior, onlookers are again transported to the year of the home's construction: 1983. But then again, it's a fair amount of space within walking distance of Decatur's retail goodies for $575,000.
