New conceptual images offer glimpses at the posh proposal, planned for the Perimeter area

New renderings have emerged for a massive mixed-use development slated for a large tract of land near Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody, along the Sandy Springs border.

High Street, as the project is known, has been in the works for more than a year at the intersection of Hammond Drive and Perimeter Center Parkway. The new renderings, which showed up on a new website for the project, mark the first new news in ages for the long-proposed project.

The development would rise across the street from the Dunwoody MARTA station, kitty-corner from under-construction State Farm campus. The project is just one of many that promise to bring density to the area not long ago dominated by Perimeter Mall, the epitome of suburbanization.

Renderings offer a glimpse at a major urban development complete with office high-rises and six-story apartments atop retail, all surrounding a large linear park. The buildings offer an eclectic array of styles, but all look pretty posh. Details are scant on a timeline and what will actually be included in the development.

However, information released last year hinted at the mind-blowingly large scale of the proposal: 8 million square feet overall, including 400,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, 1 million square feet of office space, a 750-room hotel, and 3,000 residential units. Let's hope all those hypothetical occupants take MARTA.
