Rain Can’t Dampen Spirits as Peachtree Comes Alive

Streets Alive brings revelry to Peachtree Street through Midtown and Downtown

Revelers near Woodruff Park.

Streets Alive took over Peachtree Street in Midtown and Downtown on Sunday afternoon, transforming more than two-and-a-half miles of Atlanta’s premier street into an oasis.

Even a heavy downpour in the late afternoon did little to curb enthusiasm that pulsed along the corridor as bicyclists and pedestrians took advantage of street supremacy over four-wheeled vehicles. There were street performers, food vendors, and tons of activities to keep people occupied — not to mention the people watching.

The event followed up the wildly successful four-mile route, linking nine neighborhoods on the City’s south side, that brought an estimated 80,000 attendees out in April.

Streets Alive will take a break through the heat of summer, returning to Highland Avenue in late September.
