Officials: view-rific beer garden on track to debut in August

The all-encompassing skyline views Atlantans have wanted for years are about to become available to the general public.

At a preview event Sunday, officials said Ponce City Market’s Skyline Park — the colorful portion of The Roof with vintage games, concessions, and booze — is expected to open this Friday, pending final inspections.

The Roof boasts the most sweeping, public-accessible views of Atlanta outside of — maybe — the Westin Peachtree Plaza and Stone Mountain.

To wit:

Once Skyline Park debuts, visitors can expect to pay between $1 (one trip on the slide) to about $10 (nighttime rates for miniature golf) to play. Midway games will cost a couple of bucks, and the Heege — a ride that simulates free-fall — will be around $5, officials said Sunday. Family packages could be available, too.

Connected to Skyline Park, a "modern beer garden" restaurant concept called Nine Mile Station is aiming to open in August, officials said. The menu will include wine and "elevated concessions," and the patio space seems ample for enjoying the urban vistas.

Beyond the amusement park, the remaining 4.3 acres of The Roof will host more restaurants, a large event space (500-person capacity), and private space for building tenants. The vintage elevator opens like a mouth to reveal this lobby (below) that accesses the other spaces.
