Fellini's Releases Rendering for new Peachtree Road Location

Buckhead location will be closed for six months while it gets a spiffy new building

Fellini's Pizza and La Fonda Latina have been mainstays on Peachtree Road in Buckhead for a long, long time. Following a massive fire in the adjacent Garden Hills shopping center in 2013, the restaurants soldiered on, even as the vintage strip mall met its maker.

Earlier this year, it came to light that the two restaurants would meet the same fate as the site next door — that is, they'd be leveled and replaced by new construction. Owner Clay Harper decided to close La Fonda in favor of expanding the existing Fellini's as the tiny one-third-acre site is too small to continue to operate two restaurants.

Plans for the 4,500-square-foot restaurant take on a sleek new modern appearance, with a large dining patio facing Rumson Road, according to BuckheadView. In addition to a spiffy new building, the project will bring widened sidewalks to both streets the building sits on, appeasing the neighbors and the city.

Overall, the design received a far more favorable reception than initial plans for the large development by Brand Properties that's going up on the adjacent site. If all goes according to plan, approvals could be given by mid-summer. BuckheadView reports that construction is anticipated to take only six months, though a timeline will have to be worked out with the adjacent property owners.
