Ponce de Leon Avenue is set for an overhaul, thanks in part to the Atlanta Beltline.
The organization recently announced they would begin to procure right-of-way along the street to allow for streetscape improvements on the heavily traveled corridor. Changes, which will follow scheduled DOT work, will make the street more hospitable to those on foot and bike near Ponce's connection to the Beltline.
The work is being supported by the Livable Cities Initiative, which has allowed for the completion of many similar projects.
Officials said the addition of bike lanes from Boulevard to Freedom Parkway, in conjunction with new lighting, landscaping, and ADA access, will begin sometime next year.
